Support of the micro-grant scheme

Receiving a £500 micro grant fund award from Healthwatch Doncaster, Trans Mission was set up in response to the requests of Doncaster people in attendance at last year’s Doncaster Pride Event, the latter providing a grant of £360 to the group.

The drop-in facility, situated on Copley Road in the town centre, is the very first of its kind for the town.  It’s available for anyone on the Trans spectrum and /or their family member.  Sessions will be delivered on the third Wednesday of each month and include group sessions and activities such as Man Cave (Trans Masculine Group) and Translations (Family Support Group).

Lisa Lee, Chair of Trans Mission, said:

“We‘re delighted to be able to offer this support network within Doncaster. One of the key aims of our small organisation is to provide a welcoming and supportive space where individuals in transition and their family members can access practical help, support, guidance and information across a wide range of specific issues.”

Dennis Atkin, chair of Healthwatch Doncaster’s Health Ambassador scheme said:

“We endorse and support this financial award and hope the funds provided by Healthwatch Doncaster will help the group deliver on its aims and objectives. In addition to this, we also welcome and look forward to opportunities to recruiting a local Transgender champion who is willing to act as an ambassador within Healthwatch Doncaster’s Health Ambassador Scheme.”
